I wouldn't recommend "switching" to home server, as Media Center has a lot of features that Home Server is still waiting to get. However, I would recommend adding Home Server to your current network so that those photos and music are backed up. Now, you can store the photos and music on the home server instead of the Media Center, but that's really just a personal preference.
