Windows Live Photo Gallery can even be used to record live video to your hard drive.

All you have to do is connect your Firewire (IEEE1394) device to your computer and run Windows Live Photo Gallery.  Make sure the camera is in Live/Camera/Recording mode.

When the Windows Autoplay dialog opens, select Import Video.

Name the video and choose the options that you prefer.  Click OK then click Next.  When you're ready to start saving video, click Import.  Once you've finished filming, click Finish.
